Mountings

MountingsFix the mountings to structural, fi nger jointed, double layer glued joists of 50 x 60 mm, preferred lengths 4 metres from acacia or sweet chestnut, spanning 4 joists. Pine or fir is not a preferred base due to its relatively short life in hostile environments. The set of aluminium mountings are supplied inclusive of 100 pieces of stainless steel screws, matched to the channeled edges, sufficient for about 6 m2 of decking, based on spacing between the joists of 50 cm (maximum 80 cm).

Acacia is the hardest wood and most suitable for external constructions, being the hardest of European woods and thereby most suitable for outdoor constructions. It is of very high resistance to rot and fully matches the properties of high quality tropic woods such as teak (category level 1).

Sweet Chestnut has been used since Roman times for constructional material and ship building. It has been more recently discovered to possess properties equivalent to category level 1 to 2, whilst it is relatively light, it is very stable and offers very long life.

The finger jointing is completed with specially developed glue suitable for external constructions, resistant to high and low temperatures and damp or dry environments. For maximum satisfaction and enjoyment from your terrace decking for many years to come, we recommend that you treat and protect your decking once or twice per year with proprietary terrace decking oil.
